BizInC: NUS Business School Internal Case Competition 2007

Congratulations to Team Ace (Kyle Lim, Valerie Lee, Colin Yew and Catherine Chong), who outclassed over 100 teams to become overall champions for the DBS-NUS Business School Internal Case Competition 2007!

This competition was held as a platform for students to interact and share ideas, as well as challenge themselves and further develop their critical thinking and presentation skills. To encourage the first and second year students to participate in the case competition, we also added a second division catered specially for them this year, so that they can compete on a level playing field. It serves as a great means for students to gain experience to prepare for future local and international case competitions.

The competition received an excellent response from the student population, with 110 teams of 4 people each taking part in the preliminaries. 12 teams were selected to go through to the semi-finals, where they had 24h to develop a business strategy for a Chinese electronics firm. These teams were divided into 4 groups, and the top team from each group proceeded to the finals.

In the finals, the final 4 teams had 20 minutes to present their strategy to a panel of 5 judges and an auditorium of 200 students, who quizzed the teams on the soundness of their strategies. Having gone without sleep for much of the past 24h, the teams had an immense task trying to defend their strategy against a demanding audience. We would like to congratulate the finalists for delivering impressive presentations in such challenging conditions.

The committee would like to thank many people for their support throughout the planning and execution of this competition. This includes DBS, our main sponsor, and the professors who offered their advice and support. We would also like to thank the school and staff for assisting us in our needs, and most importantly, the student population for your overwhelming response. We hope to see everyone again next year!
