MOU between NUS Business School and IIM

Today marks the MOU signing between Business School and IIM Calcutta. This is an important milestone with the rising power of India.

Calcutta or Kolkata? A quick check on Wikipedia reveals, "Both Calcutta and Kolkata were likely derived from "Kalikata", with the former being an anglicised version of the latter. The government of West Bengal changed the official name of Calcutta to Kolkata; the new name was legalised in 2001". Hmmm, it's interesting why the IIM Calcutta name was retained www.iimcal.ac.in  , and not IIM Kolkata. Perhaps some Indian students can enlighten...

There are a total of 6 IIMs: Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Kozhikode, and Lucknow. Don't ignore the IIMs, they are premier business schools. More information on IIMs in Wikipedia  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_Institute_of_Management

Never grew up with the luxury of owning an encyclopedia series. Not sure if any kids nowadays still own encyclopedia volumes. I like Wikipedia ;-) like my son.

I am an old kid who's still the proud owner of encyclopedias. I am waiting for the day to cash in on them when the WWW crashes. ;)

For the outside world (countries abroad), its still Calcutta. For that matter BBC still call Bombay rather than Mumbai and Madras than Chennai. The names of institutes also remain the same coz they are a brand and brands are not changed often ;)
